AEG Facilities bags Bercy deal and joins team for Scottish National Arena

AEG Facilities has been selected by SAE POPB, manager of the Bercy Arena in Paris, to provide consulting services during the tender process for the future management rights of the multi-sport venue, starting in October 2011. AEG Facilities’ agreement with SAE POPB calls for the international venue, sports and entertainment organisation to provide consulting services based on its experience from its network of 100 venues worldwide to renew their management rights of the 17,000-seat venue with the city. AEG Facilities will provide SAE POPB with advice on how to maximise future income opportunities and operational efficiencies.

“AEG Facilities is honoured to work with SAE POPB towards renewing its management rights to the Bercy Arena over the next year,” said Bob Newman, AEG Facilities chief operating officer. “Partnering with this project in Paris fits within AEG Facilities’ strategy of partnering with the world’s leading venues in major markets.”

In other news, AEG Facilities has signed a long-term agreement with the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC Glasgow) for the new Scottish National Arena, which is under construction in Glasgow, Scotland. AEG Facilities will work with the SECC Glasgow to maximise event programming opportunities, operational efficiencies and premium seating offerings, and develop programmes for the naming rights and sponsorship of the new arena. AEG Facilities will also provide global business enhancement initiatives, including AEG’s worldwide purchasing network, energy-saving solutions and AEG’s 1EARTH sustainability programme.

The 12,000-seat Scottish National Arena, designed by Foster and Partners, is scheduled to open in 2013 and will be largest indoor facility in Scotland, hosting sporting events, concerts, conventions, family shows and other programming. The arena is the first major development in the Queen’s Dock Project (QD2) masterplan on the 64-acre site, which will also feature an exhibition and conference centre. The arena design will include a VIP seating area, luxury suites and a variety of cafés and restaurants.
