NUSSLI builds interim stadium for Fortuna Düsseldorf

NUSSLI, a global supplier of modular stadiums, has been commissioned by the city of Düsseldorf to build an interim stadium for German second-division football team Fortuna Düsseldorf. NUSSLI is erecting the temporary stadium next to the club’s ESPRIT arena over a period of eight weeks and it will accommodate about 20,000 spectators.

Fortuna Düsseldorf will move into the temporary stadium to play its last three home games of this season as the ESPRIT arena is being used to host this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Construction began on 17 January, with completion scheduled for 15 March.

The stadium’s approximate capacity is divided into seating for about 12,500 fans and standing room for 7,500. Changing rooms for the teams will be set up in fully equipped containers located behind the main grandstand. NUSSLI has recruited a crew of around 40 to build the grandstand facilities and when the ESPRIT arena is available again, the interim stadium will be taken down and the materials will be used in future projects.
