PGE Arena Danzig wins two awards
Two prestigious prizes were awarded to the PGE Arena in Danzig, built by ALPINE together with its Polish partner, just before the start of the European Football Championships. The jury recognised the stadium's outstanding form and function at this year's ‘Stadium Business Awards’ in Turin, Italy. The prize is awarded to architecture and design projects that inspire the future direction of stadium, arena or major sports venue design.
The PGE Arena in Danzig was distinguished with the ‘Building of the Year 2011’ award by the Polish Association of Construction Engineers in the sports facilities category. The award is considered the most celebrated award in the construction branch in Poland. Among other things, the jury evaluated the site organisation, the structural solutions found, the construction period and the type of financing.
The stadium was designed by the RKW Rhode Kellermann Wawrowsky Architecture + Urban Planning team of architects and built by ALPINE. Three group matches and one quarter final will be played at the PGE Arena Danzig during the European Football Championships.

Brazil's Morumbi stadium is undergoing an extensive modernisation project that will increase the venue's flexibility, improve safety and increase spectator comfort.
