Tele2 awarded Stockholm arena naming rights

Tele2 is now the official naming rights partner to what will become Tele2 Arena. The company is aiming to integrate mobile technology at the arena in order to enhance visitor experience and create a venue for the digital generation.

Sweden is one of the world’s leading countries within digital communication, development and infrastructure. Simultaneously, sports and entertainment is blossoming, with the new Tele2 Arena at its forefront. AEG and Stockholm Globe Arenas are driving the development through its cluster of entertainment facilities in the Swedish capital, where the Tele2 Arena will be situated.

“This exciting partnership will enable us to bring a great deal of joy to many customers and staff right across the country, bringing an entertainment experience to Stockholm that we are very proud of. We’re going to take the arena experience to the next level by creating innovative, interesting mobile content for the arena’s visitors”, says Thomas Ekman, CEO, Tele2 Sweden.

The Tele2 Arena is due to open in July 2013 and will play host to national and international music megastars as well as global entertainment and sporting events. Tele2 Arena also will be home arena for two of the major soccer teams in Stockholm – Hammarby and Djurgården. With a seating capacity of 30,000, the arena will augment the existing facilities in the Globe District (Ericsson Globe, Hovet and Annexet).

“Development within the arena world and the entertainment business is strongly connected to what new technology can do to enhance the visitor’s experience. The mobile phone plays a major role in this, and through our partnership with Tele2 we have fantastic possibilities to offer visitors new mobile services, which will simplify, enhance and improve the event experience,” says Ninna Engberg, Managing Director, Stockholm Globe Arenas.
