New stadium for Brentford City FC
Brentford Football Club's purchase of a 7.6 acre site in Lionel Road for a brand new community stadium has been welcomed by Brentford FC Community Sports Trust.
The Club has announced that new owner and lifelong Brentford supporter Matthew Benham had paid an undisclosed sum for the land adjacent to Kew Bridge Station, buying it from Barratt Homes.
Barratt originally bought the site in 2008 when the firm and the Club were in a development partnership.
The Club plans to build a 15,000-seat stadium on the site with the potential to enlarge it to a 20,000 venue.
The site will provide a new home for Brentford Football Club Community Sports Trust as well as the Learning Zone, which is currently based at Griffin Park.
The Club intends to have a planning application for the new stadium ready in the next 12 months.

Brazil's Morumbi stadium is undergoing an extensive modernisation project that will increase the venue's flexibility, improve safety and increase spectator comfort.
