Saskatchewan Roughriders stadium redesign project announced

The city of Regina, the province of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club have announced design details for a new stadium as part of the Regina Revitalization Initiative. The new facility will be named Mosaic Stadium and will have a standard capacity of 33,000, which will be expandable to 40,000. The stadium will be built by PCL Construction Management, which includes HKS Sports & Entertainment, B+H Architects and TD Securities.

“This is a very exciting time for our community and marks a significant milestone for the Regina Revitalization Initiative,” said Mayor Michael Fougere. “We are absolutely thrilled with the design of our new stadium. It’s an iconic gathering place for our community and is just the start of a revitalization effort that will influence and shape our city for generations to come,”

Construction of the stadium will begin in June 2014 with substantial completion expected in August of 2016. The first Rider game in the new stadium will be played in June 2017. The stadium design includes a translucent spectator roof and open south end zone connecting the stadium to the community, creating a feeling of spaciousness, while providing an improved level of comfort for all users.

A unique feature of the stadium will be a general admission lounge, located on the west side of the facility that will be accessible to all users. Design features resulting in an enhanced spectator experience include: 68% of seats located in a sunken lower bowl, individual seating, unobstructed views of the field from each seat and other amenities including increased concessions and washrooms.
