As United Soccer League side Louisville FC builds its new Lynn Family Stadium in Kentucky, USA, ahead of its scheduled opening in 2020, it has just installed a super-sized LED display system.

At the US$65m venue, it will feature a high-tech LED video display system from Daktronics that comprises eight LED displays, including a main display measuring 40ft high by 72.5ft wide. As a unique touch, two additional displays will be installed to the left and right of the main display angled toward the field. These measure 40ft high by 14.5ft wide and feature 16mm line spacing to show supplemental information to the main display.

On the backside of the main display, a rear-facing display measures 24ft high by 49ft wide and features 16mm line spacing. Two ribbon displays measure nearly 4ft high by 25ft wide along the seating fascia. Surrounding the playing field, a pitch-perimeter display measuring 3ft high by 495ft wide and featuring 10mm line spacing will be installed.

These displays allow the team to show additional content to immerse fans in the match-day experience as well as offering the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout events.

Capitalizing on recent sporting venue trends, LouCity is installing a 14.5ft-high by 25ft-wide screen in its beer garden to connect with their fans before, during and after events. The display features 6mm line spacing and allows the team to show match-day related content as well as live airings of rival matches that might affect the team’s standings.

“We want Lynn Family Stadium to be a great experience for our supporters and having top-quality LED displays is crucial to the fan experience,” LouCity president Brad Estes said. “The sightlines in our new soccer-specific stadium are second to none and our Daktronics displays will enhance the game-day experience.”

It is the team’s last season playing home games at Slugger Field and will move into a new 14,000-seater, soccer-specific stadium being built east of downtown Louisville. The venue’s construction is part of a Messer-Harmon JV and is set to be completed by the spring of 2020 and in time for the 2020-2021 USL season.
