Georgia Southern finishes major turf installation

The turf surface of Glenn Bryant Field was recently replaced with a FieldTurf Vertex Prestige 2 turf system. The turf features a  synthetic CoolPlay top layer surface, which will now be used by the Eagles during practice and on game days.

The installation of the Vertex Prestige system, is a two-part project, as the identical surface will also be installed at the college’s Anthony P. Tippins Family Training Facility this summer.

Specifications of the installation

FieldTurf Vertex Prestige is designed using a two-layer infill technology, comprised of specially designed slit-film fibers and high-performance ridged monofilament fibers.

The fibrillation process of the slit-film component allows for proper infill encapsulation, while the monofilament fibers facilitate grass-like ball roll.

Both fibers are tufted together in the same stitch for a superior aesthetic appearance. The pile height is 2in and the infill is comprised of sand, ambient rubber and a top layer of CoolPlay.

Widespread usage

In the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) over 1,500 programs play on FieldTurf surfaces.

In the NFL, FieldTurf is installed at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Falcons), Ford Field (Lions), Gillette Stadium (Patriots), Lumen Field (Seahawks), MetLife Stadium (Giants and Jets) and Bank of America Stadium (Panthers).
