Swansea City FC’s state-of-the-art media center

Swansea City FC’s state-of-the-art media center

Soccer club Swansea City FC, which plays in the English Football League Championship, has invested £10.5m (US$13.5m) in a new state-of-the-art media center at its Fairwood training facility where cabling experts Marshall-Tufflex provided a key supporting role.

The new training base is the first ever facility the club has owned; previously the organization has had to use different local pitches and sports clubs. The Fairwood training base is predominantly used by the first team and has cutting-edge facilities that, alongside football pitches, include a high-tech gym, an altitude chamber, a hydrotherapy pool, treatment rooms, a large kit room and social areas.

To accommodate the number of television broadcast teams and news and media agencies and to ensure the smooth running of interviews and press conferences Swansea City FC enlisted Marshall-Tufflex to handle the vast amount of data cabling required.

Across four media rooms Sterling Curve and Sterling XL PVC-U trunking has been fitted to manage cabling and has been specifically designed to stop clutter, prevent dust traps and be easily cleaned.

Sterling Curve offers a three-compartment trunking with the capacity for two data compartments and a 25mm bend radius that enables it to be installed around corners. Its Sterling XL product is a larger capacity trunking with four-part compartments and greater depth to take increased cable distribution.

Each is suitable for dado and skirting application and has power boxes available to comply with Part M/DDA requirements for visual impairment. They are compliant up to Cat 7a and include adjustable data boxes that can be screened to help against electromagnetic interference.
