Brentford FC reveals date of new stadium move

West London’s Brentford FC has announced that it will move into its new 17,250-seater stadium in 2020.

The Championship soccer club announced this week that it will play a final full season at existing ground Griffin Park before moving to the new stadium at the end of the 2019/20 season. Brentford opted for an end-of-season move to accommodate potential delays and prevent disruption to its 2020/21 season. The club acknowledged that the construction project is particularly challenging as the new ground is adjacent to railway lines.

The Brentford Community Stadium development is an important part of the wider regeneration of the Brentford East area and will deliver a stadium ready for both Premier League football and Premiership rugby, together with more than 900 new homes, a new purpose-built location for Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, and a public square with shops and cafés.

Brentford FC has also revealed that the new facility has been included as a venue in the FA’s bid to host the Women’s Euro 2021 tournament.
