New soccer stadium planned for Indiana

In the coming years, thousands of fans will be able to cheer on Fort Wayne’s soccer club at what will be the largest outdoor stadium in northeast Indiana.

Mark Music, the principal owner of Fort Wayne FC, is behind the building of a 7,500-seat stadium, according to Monday’s press release from the soccer club.

In April, plans for a stadium were brought to the Allen County Plan Commission. It will be situated on the south side of Bass Road, adjacent to and west of Interstate 69, according to the release. In 2021, two parcels of land were bought for the location totaling over $2 million.

Fort Wayne FC said the pitch will be 7 feet below grade with a wrap-around concourse, with all seat-back style seating in both the lower bowl and elevated concourse, which will also have an accessible elevator entrance. There will be 10 field level suites, tabletop terrace and drink rail options with views of the action, as well as multiple patio concession areas, according to the plans.

“Every fan seat will be within 55 feet from the touch line so you will feel like you are part of the action,” Fort Wayne FC said in the release.

Including standing room, the venue will have a match day capacity of 9,280. That number would increase to over 10,000 for potential concerts and other events that could be hosted there, making it the largest outdoor stadium in the region.

Developer BND Commercial is working with local firm Design Collaborative to bring the vision to life.

The concourse will also feature a beer garden, fan zone park and multiple sporting-related locker rooms and offices along with a 120’x35’ state-of-the-art LED videoboard and a fan shop that will be open year-round, the release said.

Besides soccer games, the stadium could host other sports or events ranging from concerts to weddings and graduations.
