Daktronics installs centerhung LED system at Delaware university

The University of Delaware has delivered brand-new visual technology to its Bob Carpenter Center with a square-shaped LED centerhung display system.

The large videoboard has nine individual displays, with four main HD displays on each side of the square arrangement measuring 16.5ft by 9.5ft. Filling the space between the main displays are four curved corner displays each measuring nearly 5ft wide by 9.5ft high to form a complete 360° viewing experience. Below the main displays, a ring display circles the configuration measuring 2ft high by 50ft in circumference.

“The addition of the Bob Carpenter video board pushes our game-day atmosphere to another level,” said Zak Grim, assistant athletic director of game presentation and fan experience for the University of Delaware.

“It allows us to entertain Blue Hen fans at all our home games with a more diverse content package and a more robust game-day experience.”

The system was installed in the summer of 2018 at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Delaware, and is capable of variable content zoning in order to show, for example, one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replay, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
