Weather damage to Balaidos Stadium leads to abandoned game

0

A La Liga soccer game in Spain between Celta Vigo and Real Madrid was postponed last week when extreme weather caused damage to Balaidos Stadium in the city of Vigo. Winds of up to 87mph were recorded, and lifted part of the stadium’s roof. City officials deemed conditions too dangerous to ensure crowd and player safety, and the game was postponed.

The league will announce a new date for the match – presumably once any damage to Celta Vigo’s stadium has been assessed and repaired.
