Florida SouthWestern State adds Daktronics video and ribbon displays to new arena

Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) has turned to Daktronics to design, manufacture and install a new LED display system inside its new facility, Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

“When looking at vendors for the arena, our vision was to go away from the traditional centerhung scoreboard and use video walls and ribbon boards to enhance the fan experience, and Daktronics was the perfect choice to help us achieve this vision,” said Jason Dudley, FSW chief information officer. “Daktronics was able to provide us a fully integrated turn-key solution and we couldn’t be more pleased.”

“This is an exciting project that will bring fans, players and coaches an incredible game-day experience,” added Jeff Lyle, Daktronics Florida HSPR sales representative. “Together with our Daktronics Sports Marketing team, our integrated LED displays will bring excitement as well as a source of ongoing revenue for FSW.”

The facility, which hosts numerous sports and special events, will enjoy two video displays and two ribbon displays – one video display mounted at each end of the arena and one ribbon display mounted on each wall along the sides of the arena – to surround fans with live video, instant replays, statistics, graphics and sponsorship messages. The two video displays are capable of variable content zoning allowing them each to show one large image or each can be divided into multiple windows to show a variety of content.

Each video display measures approximately 10ft high by 20ft wide and features 10mm line spacing. Each long, narrow ribbon display measures approximately 3ft high by 120ft wide and features 15mm line spacing. These displays provide excellent image clarity and contrast with wide-angle visibility for a great view from every seat in the arena.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption.
