Iraqi stadium destroyed near Ramadi

Associated Press has reported that militants from the Islamic State group have blown up a sports stadium in Iraq’s Anbar province.

The news was revealed to AP by Iraqi security officials, who were speaking anonymously and who were not authorized to brief journalists.

The stadium, near the Islamic State-held city of Ramadi was being used as a military base for security forces and allied militia. AP also reports that the 30,000-capacity stadium was empty when it was destroyed.
