DC United has announced that the final piece of structural steel at Audi Field – the team’s new soccer-specific stadium – has been placed. The topping out marks the latest milestone in the project, which also includes an adjoining mixed-use development in the Southwest Waterfront District.
Audi Field is due to open on July 14, 2018, with DC United having left RFK stadium at the end of the 2017 season.
The 20,000-seat stadium has been designed specifically for soccer, but will also be used to host a variety of other sporting and cultural events, community activities and concerts.
The stadium will include 31 luxury suites, a bike valet, and 500,000ft² of mixed-use retail and residential space on-site.
