The Oakland Raiders’s move to Las Vegas, Nevada, looks to have hit a major stumbling block with the news that casino magnate Sheldon Adelson has pulled out of a deal to build the NFL team a US$1.9bn stadium, reports The Guardian.
Adelson and his family had agreed to contribute US$650m to the project – with US$750m to come from taxpayer contributions and the remaining US$500m to be paid by the Raiders. In a statement, Adelson admitted to being surprised by a lease proposal from the NFL team that would have the Raiders pay US$1 a year to rent and operate the new stadium.

According to various reports, the Raiders remain committed to the move to Las Vegas. NFL owners will vote on the move in March.
