Mosaic Stadium announces substantial completion

The city of Regina has released a statement citing “substantial completion of the new Mosaic Stadium. At a joint news conference, Regina Mayor Michael Fougere praised PCL Construction for having reached the project milestone – the first phase of the Regina Revitalization Initiative.

“We dared to dream about creating one of the most elite facilities of its kind in the country, something we can all be very proud of,” said Fougere. “We have achieved a great milestone and I am proud of everyone involved in the entire project, especially our numerous city employees and PCL.”

Although a significant amount of work is still required, substantial completion means that the facility can now start to be tested for its intended use. Outstanding work includes: furniture, fixtures and equipment; site preparation and construction of the Commons (exterior ground-level plaza); food and beverage concession and kitchen areas; broadcast cabling and communications; locker room and administrative areas for the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club; exterior ramp cladding in the northeast and northwest sections of the stadium.

The first of three stadium tests takes place on Saturday, October 1 when the University of Regina Rams host the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in a Canadian Interuniversity Sport Canada West football game. The game will test the construction of the building including washrooms, public address systems and elevators. Operational plans that will support the stadium, including access and egress, transportation, parking and security, will also be tested.
