Ephesus Lighting selected to install LED lighting at new Mosaic Stadium

The playing surface at the new Mosaic Stadium, home of the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders, will be illuminated with high-performance LED stadium lights from Ephesus Lighting, a leading provider of LED lighting solutions for sports facilities. The facility, which is currently under construction, becomes the second new stadium construction project this year to feature Ephesus LED lighting.

The stadium is the first phase of the Regina Revitalization Initiative (RRI) and is a partnership between the City of Regina, the Province of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Roughrider Canadian Football League (CFL) club. The multipurpose stadium at Evraz Place will have a capacity of 33,000 and be expandable to 40,000 for major events. The stadium is being built by PCL Construction Management, and designed by HKS Architects. It is scheduled for completion in August 2016, with the first Roughrider game scheduled for 2017.

“Sports and entertainment venue operators all across North America have come to understand that solid-state LED lighting is the premier lighting solution and a great way to enhance the fan experience,” said Mike Lorenz, president of Ephesus Lighting. “We commend the RRI stadium project team for understanding the advantages of LED and choosing our lighting solution for the benefit of their fans, players, broadcast partners and facility operations team.”

Ephesus Lighting is providing a fully integrated system including factory mounted brackets and wiring for easy installation. Additionally, the system will be controlled by the Ephesus wireless control system which will eliminate the need for thousands of feet of cable in the new construction project, while also enabling unique light shows and fan experience effects.

Ephesus Lighting has led the solid-state LED lighting explosion at sports and entertainment facilities across North America by engineering LED lighting solutions that provide a significant increase in illumination when compared to all other lighting systems.

Ephesus’s LED lighting is brighter, and through its industry-leading glare-control system, its fixtures shine more uniformly on the playing surface, creating a better stage for players and fans both in the stadium and those watching on high-definition television. The versatility of LED also allows for operational flexibility and the creation of programmable light shows for fan entertainment. And, since LED lights can be turned on and off with the flick of a switch, if a power outage were to cause a blackout, they can be turned back on immediately. Ephesus LED solutions are easy to install, maintenance-free for years, and offer facilities low total operating costs.

Since lighting the first sports venue with LED technology in North America in 2012, Ephesus Lighting luminaires have been operational for over 150m hours at indoor and outdoor sports and entertainment venues across North America including: the University of Phoenix Stadium, the home field of the NFL Arizona Cardinals; Bridgestone Arena, home ice of the Nashville Predators; the Canadian Tire Centre, home ice of the Ottawa Senators; and top college arenas and stadia at Duke University, Cornell University, the US Naval Academy, the University of Rhode Island and many more.
