The Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL) have installed an HDR display from Daktronics at its home stadium of Empower Field at Mile High in Colorado.

Standing 72ft in height and 225ft in width, the south end zone display will be 77% larger than the previous display.

Two video displays will be added to the north end zone, one in each corner. Each display will measure 30ft in height, 98ft in width and will also be HDR-capable.

These will be accompanied by two north-end corner displays, eight vomitorium displays and three tunnel displays installed before the regular season schedule kicks off later this year.

Measuring up

Each vomitorium display will measure roughly 3ft (height) by 9.5ft (width) to share additional graphics, animations and sponsorship messages. The tunnel displays measure 3.5ft (height) by 14.5ft (width).

Including the new HDR display, the 25 LED displays total 24,500ft2, allowing for 16:9 replays in-game.

This project adds to the existing digital signage to the tune of 55 total LED displays. Combined this accounts for more than 30,000ft2 at Empower Field at Mile High.

In-bowl displays to be installed later this year will feature 10mm pixel spacing. Eight club displays will feature 2.5mm pixel spacing, two club displays will feature 1.5mm pixel spacing, and a forced perspective concourse display will feature 1.9mm pixel spacing.

A new display in the main concourse measuring nearly 7 ft (height) by 28ft (width) will deliver forced perspective content.

Two other club displays will measure approximately 11ft (height) by 20ft (width), and eight more will measure 9ft (height) by 16 ft (wide).

Further comment

“This new scoreboard powered by Daktronics is an investment into our overall fan and game-day experience at Empower Field at Mile High,” said Hailey Sullivan, chief marketing officer, Denver Broncos. “We are excited to bring our game-day entertainment to new heights through these new displays.”

“As a long-time partner, we’re thrilled to deliver one of the largest displays in professional football to the Denver Broncos,” said Daktronics President and CEO Reece Kurtenbach. “The continual focus on improving the overall game-day experience has led to advancements and innovation in LED video display design and technology, as evidenced by this project at Empower Field at Mile High.”
