A new mobile lighting rig specifically designed for golf courses has been launched to help treat problematic greens and fairways – a first-of-its-kind in the sports turf industry.
Called the Orn, it has been created by MLR, a Norwegian company that provides turf lighting solutions to sports stadia. With technologies that have been used to help grass growth at shaded stadium pitches in harsh climates, MLR ventures into the golf market for the first time with the Orn. It offers a compact and easy-to-move rig that can be moved around the golf course to treat spot problem areas, then disassembled in less than 30 minutes for easy storage.
“MLR is proud to launch the world’s first supplementary lighting rig designed specifically for golf. There’s a great deal of pressure on greenkeepers to produce quality surfaces all year round, and the Orn can be a crucial weapon in that battle,” said Hermann Sather, MLR general manager.
