Fiesta Bowl executive director Mike Nealy has announced that Motel 6 will be the title sponsor of the 2016 Cactus Bowl football game, now officially named the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl and to be played on Jan 2, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

The agreement between the Fiesta Bowl non-profit organization and discount hospitality chain Motel 6 was brokered by Denver-based Impression Sports & Entertainment.

“Motel 6 is proud to join forces with the Fiesta Bowl organization to become the official title sponsor of the Cactus Bowl,” said Lance Miceli, executive vice president, chief marketing officer at G6 Hospitality, the parent company of Motel 6.

“With the championship games fast approaching, we will be hard at work preparing for an event that stands up to the dedication, talent and passion the athletes, coaches and fans invest day in, day out. The Motel 6 Cactus Bowl is a celebration of the drive and commitment these athletes have to being their very best, and we believe there’s no better way to get 2016 off to a great start.”

Returning to Chase Field for the first time since 2005, the 27th annual Motel 6 Cactus Bowl will be held on January 2, 2016. Operated by the Fiesta Bowl organization, the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl will be carried on ESPN and will feature two teams from the Big 12 and Pac-12 conferences.

“We are thrilled to partner with Motel 6 to present the 27th Annual Motel 6 Cactus Bowl,” said Nealy. “We take pride in hosting thousands of college football fans every year, and are honored to work with the iconic Motel 6 to bring fans an exciting experience of college football on a different playing field.”
