As Everton Football Club prepares to begin a new era at Bramley-Moore Dock for the 2025/26 season, the club has confirmed that Goodison Park will remain an integral part of its future. Starting next season, the iconic stadium will become the permanent home of Everton Women.
With the men’s first team set to leave Goodison Park after 133 years at the end of the current campaign, the club reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the ground’s legacy. A club statement emphasized that the beloved venue “will remain a central part of Liverpool’s sporting and cultural identity” and will support efforts “to create a team capable of challenging for honours, backed by high‑quality facilities and a world‑renowned home.”
Following their acquisition of Everton in December, The Friedkin Group has taken an in-depth look at the Goodison Legacy project—originally launched in 2020 to explore the future of the stadium. After completing their review, the new owners committed to maintaining football at the heart of the club’s community.
“The decision follows an in‑depth review of the Goodison Legacy project by The Friedkin Group (TFG) since their takeover in December. The Goodison Legacy project was launched in 2020 to define the future of Goodison. After an in‑depth review, The Friedkin Group decided that football must be kept at the heart of Everton’s community. The move addresses Everton Women’s rapid growth and need for a larger, more suitable venue than Walton Hall Park. Phase one of the transition includes stadium upgrades to enhance the matchday experience and ensure adequate facilities are in place before the start of the season.”
The move not only underscores Everton’s commitment to the women’s game but also aligns with broader efforts to enhance visibility, access, and opportunity for the growing fanbase. Club captain Megan Finnigan welcomed the news, saying: “a testament to where the women’s game is right now and, more importantly, where it is heading,” adding, “Goodison is a magical stadium with a deep heritage and close ties to the local community.”
This landmark decision ensures that Goodison Park continues to play a vital role in the life of the club and the city—carrying forward its spirit through the rise of Everton Women and providing a new chapter for a stadium so rich in footballing history.
