South Carolina debuted a sparkling new community asset and professional sports destination last week as the Greenville Triumph opened GE Vernova Park at the BridgeWay Station mixed-use development in Mauldin to an approving, energetic, sold-out crowd.
GE Vernova Park is the new permanent home of the Triumph and the Greenville Liberty of the United Soccer League (USL). The project is a public-private partnership with the City of Mauldin, State of South Carolina, Hughes Investments, and Greenville Pro Soccer, the team’s ownership group. McCullers Group is Owner’s Representative for Greenville Pro Soccer on the project.
All of the stadium’s 4,000+ seats were filled for the Triumph’s 1-0 win over Forward Madison. The venue, which mirrors BridgeWay Station’s distinctive European-inspired design, will have an eventual capacity of 6,300 and could accommodate up to 15,000 for larger events.
In addition to hosting men’s and women’s soccer, GE Vernova Park will welcome youth sports, concerts, festivals, and other events that will bring the community together for decades to come.
“This moment represents years of hard work and belief from countless people who shared a vision for what professional soccer could become in the Upstate,” said Wallace Cheves, chairman of Greenville Pro Soccer. “GE Vernova Park is a permanent home for the Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty – but more than that, it’s a gathering place for our community, where families can come together, create memories and experience the joy that sports can bring.”
