UK professional football club Burnley FC has introduced a safe standing section in the Barnfield Construction Stand at Turf Moor stadium. The section, which has been installed by Link Stadium Seating, has the capacity to hold more than 1,500 home and away fans.
Link Stadium Seating have a long-established relationship with Burnley FC and the Link barrier seat/safe standing solution was chosen by the club for this recent seating upgrade. The installation was completed ahead of a Premier League match against Newcastle FC.
Burnley FC said the section had been installed “to help boost the already amazing atmosphere”.
Safe standing is implemented in stadia to ensure that spectators are able to stand safely during events. Ahead of the 2022/23 football season, the UK government confirmed that Premier League and Championship clubs could introduce safe standing areas at their grounds. The decision followed successful trials at clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester City, and Cardiff City.
