Roig Arena has a budget of over €280M, fully paid for by Mercadona supermaket chain owner Juan Roig. It is being built as a multi-purpose venue, which will be handed to the city of Valencia after 50 years.

Additional to the multi-purpose arena, a revitalisation of the surrounding infrastructure is underway. A 1,000 space car park, public park and a 1,200ft2 multi-purpose hall for the Valenca Basket Club are being built, alongside estaurant areas, terraces, and “Les Arts” public school of Valencia, which is already open.

The first of three phases of construction, consisting of excavation, pile driving, screening walls and foundation slabs has already been completed. Construction is currently in its second phase, focusing on the concrete and metal structure, roof, facade and formwork of the floors.

Licampa 1617’s Roig Arena falls within the framework of Juan Roig’s Legacy Project, featuring similar strategic goals to other legacy project such as the Marina de Empresas, Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, and L’Alqueria del Basket.

According to the latest report by the Valencian Institute for Economic Research this venue will contribute to generating approximately 300 jobs and an economic impact in the city of Valencia of over €10m (US$10.3m) annually.
