The Tennessee Titans’ new Nissan Stadium, currently under construction, will open ahead of the 2027 NFL season with a fully checkout-free concessions operation.
Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology will power more than 50 concessions locations throughout the venue, making Nissan Stadium only the second sports facility in the world to operate exclusively with checkout-free stores. Intuit Dome, home of the LA Clippers, is the only other venue to take a similar approach, using rival provider AiFi.
The Titans committed early in the stadium design process to an all-frictionless concessions model. Following a competitive bid process lasting approximately five months, Amazon was selected over Zippin and AiFi, the other finalist for the project.
A key factor in the decision was the scale and reliability of the Amazon brand. Once completed, Nissan Stadium will represent Amazon’s largest single-venue deployment of Just Walk Out technology to date.
“This project is critical because it demonstrates that the industry and fans alike are fully bought in,” said Anthony Leggett, Director and General Manager of Amazon Just Walk Out. “The technology is proven, it adds value, reduces queues and significantly increases throughput and revenue.”
Checkout-free technology has steadily expanded across sports venues over the past five years. While Seattle’s Lumen Field operates 15 Just Walk Out locations, most stadium deployments remain limited in scale. The Titans’ decision to implement the technology venue-wide represents a significant vote of confidence in its maturity and performance.
“We see this as the next step in enhancing the fan experience,” added Andrew McIntyre, the Titans’ SVP of Technology & Innovation. “We want fans in their seats, enjoying the game, not standing in queues. Frictionless markets are the fastest and most efficient way to get people the products they want. It’s about speed, efficiency and maximising time spent enjoying the event.”
The concessions will feature a range of store sizes and layouts designed to integrate seamlessly with Nissan Stadium’s concourses and accommodate transitions between NFL games, concerts and other large-scale events.
Construction firms Turner and AECOM Hunt are responsible for building the physical store shells, after which Amazon will install its technology, including entry gates, overhead tracking cameras and automated payment systems. Installation is expected to take only a matter of weeks in 2027. Sodexo Live will serve as the stadium’s food and beverage partner.
