German soccer team Borussia Mönchengladbach has announced it will deploy Wi-Fi 7 and 6E to power fast, seamless operational connectivity across Borussia-Park.
The stadium has 54,000 seats, along with a full-scale campus that includes the Borussia-8-Grad hotel, training pitches, retail, medical and office facilities, hospitality venues, and the FohlenWelt museum. All will be powered by high-performance Wi-Fi from Extreme Networks, a leader in AI-powered automation for networking.
With this solution, the club has unified voice, operations, and guest traffic on a single network, delivering reliable, high-speed connectivity on matchdays and a scalable platform for future digital innovation.
“To support thousands of fans at every home match, and an expanding ecosystem of connected systems, we need a network we can rely on without compromise. Extreme delivers fast, resilient connectivity across Borussia-Park, keeping operations seamless on matchday and beyond. From payment terminals and VIP hospitality to access control, we can power every critical service,” said Frank Fleissgarten, the club’s CIO.
Extreme will help Borussia unify wired, wireless, and cloud to provide the IT team with real-time visibility, automation, and AI insights to keep communications, inventory, and security running smoothly.
With its new digital backbone in place, Borussia-Park’s IT team can quickly bring new areas online and support future capabilities such as smart parking for the hotel and stadium, EV charging, and biometric access and features.
“As Borussia Mönchengladbach transforms its stadium and facilities into a true multi-purpose destination, always-on, high-performance connectivity is critical,” said Thomas Mehrfort, head of sports and venues EMEA, Extreme Networks.
